Honda Makes Guinness World Record With The World Fastest Lawn Mower

Honda’s Mean Mower is now officially the Guinness World Record holder for the world’s fastest lawn mower. Although Honda has racked up some major awards in its storied history, not limited to winning Automobile of the Year award in 1991 with the Acura NSX supercar, Its latest triumph, however, might just deserve its own special section on the mantle.



The test took place on March 8 about 80 miles from Barcelona, Spain, at the IDIADA Proving Grounds. Honda’s Mean Mower recorded two runs on a 100-meter (328-foot) stretch of track, shattering the previous record of 87.83 mph with a baffling average speed of 116.57 mph. BBC Top Gear Magazine’s Piers Ward set the record, looking perfectly ridiculous in a decked-out racing outfit atop a lawn mower.

 Honda UK-built Mean Mower by estimated shows 0-60 mph sprint of just four seconds and top speed of around 135 mph. The Honda Mean Mower uses a 1000-cc V-twin motorcycle engine from a Honda VTR Firestorm, which makes 109 hp and is mated to a performance six-speed paddle-shifted transmission. A custom-made chassis and suspension, ATV wheels and tires, and a Scorpion exhaust are also on the menu.

Like the Honda HF2620 Lawn Tractor on which it is based, the Mean Mower can still cut grass at or below 15 mph—more than double the top speed of the normal mower. As far as the modified version's fuel tank, oil cooler and, water cooling radiator, you’ll find those cozied up in the grass bag.
