Family Of Nine Buried Alive As Landslide Hits Gulmi


 Nine members of a single family died after they were buried in a landslide at Aglung VDC in Gulmi district Thursday night. Of the deceased, five are below 10 years.


According to the District Police Office, Gulmi, seven members died after the landslide buried the house of Bhabilal Kunwar at Nipane in the VDC.  The deceased have been identified as
  • Bhabilal Kunwar, 
  • Cheti Kunwar, 60 (wife)
  •  daughter Juthi Bista, 40
  •  Sita Kunwar, 30 (daughter-in-law)
  • granddaughters - Harikala Kunwar, 4, Bipana Kunwar, 2, and Bindu, 8
  • grandson - Chetman Kunwar, 10, 
  • nephew - Bhima Kunwar, 6,
These information was from an officer at the District Police Officer, Police Inspector  Nishant Shreevastav. 

The incident place is 42-kilomters away from the district headquarters, Tamghas.

Different teams of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force in the district have been deployed towards the incident site. 

The landslide also buried the houses of Juthe Pariyar and Dhan Bahadur Pariyar of Aglung-4 and Krishna BK of Aglung-2. It is learnt four people died and one another has gone missing in a landslide at Khung-8 in Pyuthan district Thursday night. 

The deceased have been identified as 
  • a two-year old Aayusa Giri, 
  • 10-month old Aashish Giri and 
  • Deve Bhandari, 54,
