In Australia, an energy drink with such claims have been pulled of the shelves of retail outlets. The victim of this sanction is an adult herbal drink, MosKa. Why was it banned?
MosKa, which calls itself an herbal drink for adults. MosKa contains vardenafil, the active ingredient in Levitra, according to the country’s Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
Possible side effects of vardenafil include priapism, which is a long-lasting and painful erection that lasts for several hours, as well as headaches and nausea.
The substance is especially dangerous for men with cardiovascular problems.
“We are devastated to have found that the overseas OEM supplier for MosKa energy for adults had included an undeclared ingredient, vardenafil (Levitra), within the natural ingredients,”
MosKa said in a statement on its website. “We have terminated the supplier and in the process of producing the product with our own formulation to ensure no hidden ingredients.”
Meanwhile, the TGA has declared MosKa illegal and is working with customs to make sure future shipments of the drink don’t make it into the country.
“If these bottles are found at the border by Customs they will be seized and destroyed,” the agency said.
